![]() ![]() In this write up, the value of the game considers the lexical choices in the poem " The Road Not Taken‛ by Robert Frost in the following categories: nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, lexical categories such as synonymy, antagonymy, contradiction and their significance or effects in the poem. Poets, particularly modern ones, have successfully freed themselves from constraints of what is so called ‚poetic language (Sharma, 2009: 31). Both the paths had leaves and grass on them, and no one had stepped on them as they were still. It is now widely considered to be one of the most popular works of American literature. The poet says that both the paths were similar that morning. For a poetry project I used the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. Through the speakers experience, the poem explores the nature of choices, and what it means to be a person forced to choose (as all people inevitably are). ![]() ![]() Each register has its own characteristics style with certain lexical and grammatical choices. ‘The Road Not Taken’ is one of Robert Frost’s most famous poems. The Road Not Taken was originally published in The Atlantic in 1915 along with two other poems from Frost. In addition, as a teacher I feel that we have a duty not only to teach our children facts but even in a second language, to teach them to reflect and think deeply life these days often seems so superficial. He stops when he sees that the road turns into two roads. A piece of work cannot be properly understood without a thorough knowledge of the language, which is its medium of expression. This poem by Robert Frost is about a person walking in the woods. It seeks to account for the interpretative effects of a text through close study of its linguistic detail, such as syntactic structuring, semantic deviation, deixis, modality, etc. Stylistics is the study of style of language in literature. This paper attempts to analyse the Lexical Choices in Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken poem from the perspectives of stylistics. This expressive critical study is an effort to bring in light new interpretation of Robert Frost poem 'The Road Not Taken' as a reflection of his indecisiveness in life. ![]()
